The leader of the notorious Brondial Criminal Group was shot dead after a botched armed robbery inside a fruit store in San Isidro, Makati City. The incident occurred on August 14, 2024 at about 2:50 AM, leaving one suspect dead and the remaining four accomplices on the run.

According to the initial investigation, the suspect, identified by his alias Jeric, along with four unidentified male accomplices, forcibly entered the store and declared hold-up. Two of the armed suspects made their way to the second floor while the remaining three stayed on the ground floor, where they seized the cell phones of S/G Roco and other store employees.

The suspects were startled by the sound of an approaching police siren, causing them to panic and attempt to flee. S/G Roco seized the opportunity to fire at the suspects, fatally wounding Jeric. The other suspects managed to escape to unknown direction. Employees of the store immediately alerted the arriving police officers, who quickly secured the premises.

San Isidro Police Substation personnel, responding promptly to the scene, ensured the safety of all store employees. The Makati City Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team, led by PMAJ GERALD VILAR, conducted a thorough investigation, recovering critical evidence, including one metal jacket and one lead core. A search of the deceased suspect’s pockets revealed a stolen cellphone, which was identified by S/G Roco as his own.

An initial interview with the store’s cashier, alias Eva, revealed that the suspects had taken an iPhone 13 worth ₱40,000.00 and a Samsung cellphone worth ₱10,000.00

S/G Roco turned over the pieces of evidence to the Investigating Officer one unit of Caliber 9mm Armscor, with serial number, one unit of Caliber .38 Revolver, with serial number, three fired cartridge cases from a caliber .38, one caliber .38 ammunition, one 9mm magazine loaded with nine pieces of ammunition and one unit of Huawei cellphone.

Additionally, police recovered one motorcycle, with plate number, and one Suzuki Raider motorcycle without a license plate. A search of the Suzuki motorcycle led to the discovery of a driver’s license belonging to the suspect alias Jeric, 27 years old, resident of Pasay City, leader of the Brondial Criminal Group.

“Upon verification to our Investigation Solution Automated Verification System (ISAV-S), it revealed that the deceased suspect had a standing warrant for Frustrated Homicide, violation of RA 10883 (Anti-Carnapping Act), Robbery, and Murder. We would like to acknowledge the alertness and quick action of the security guard that resulted to the neutralization of the suspect, also continuous conduct of manhunt operations is underway for the possible arrest of the remaining at-large suspects” said PBGEN LEON VICTOR Z ROSETE, District Director.
