The Makati City Police Station successfully apprehended alias “Rendon” on August 4, 2025, for Qualified Theft under Article 310 of the Revised Penal Code, following a thorough investigation that led to the recovery of ₱370,300.00 in stolen company funds part of the total amount of ₱1,156,570.00.

The incident began on August 3, 2025, at around 12:30 in the afternoon, when the theft reportedly took place at Santiago Extension, Barangay Poblacion, Makati City. The following day, alias “Rendon” voluntarily appeared at the Poblacion Police Sub-station and claimed he was a victim of a robbery committed by an unidentified individual. Officers referred him to the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) for further scrutiny.

During the initial phase of the investigation, alias “Rendon” was accompanied by identified as alias “Sarmiento,” and alias “Caburnay”. Both operatives are based at the ETAP office located on Filmore Street, Barangay Palanan, Makati City. While the officers momentarily stepped out for lunch, alias “Rendon” suddenly fled the IDMS Office without warning. Alias “Caburnay” immediately pursued him and was able to apprehend him shortly after.

Upon returning to the station, alias “Rendon” voluntarily admitted that the earlier robbery report was fabricated. He confessed that he and his cohort, alias “Estacio,” had conspired to steal over one million pesos in company funds. Rendon further revealed that he had hidden his share of the stolen money worth ₱370,300.00 inside his residence.

Acting swiftly on this admission, alias “Sarmiento” and alias “Caburnay,” with the assistance of personnel from the Makati City Police Station, proceeded to the residence of alias “Rendon.” While the responding officers waited outside, alias “Rendon” entered the premises with the two ETAP agents and retrieved a black Jansport backpack containing the concealed cash.

With the evidence recovered and the suspect’s confession, alias “Rendon” was formally placed under arrest. The case was referred for inquest proceedings before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office on the evening of August 4, 2025, at around 9:45 PM.

In a statement, Police Colonel REYCON L GARDUQUE, Officer-in-Charge of the Makati City Police Station, emphasized that the swift resolution of the case was a result of diligent investigative work and inter-agency cooperation. He reaffirmed the station’s commitment to upholding law and order through ethical and decisive policing.

Acting District Director of the Southern Police District, Police Brigadier General RANDY Y ARCEO, also issued a statement commending the efforts of the Makati City Police Station.
